2025 Legislative Wrap-Up
The 2025 legislation session is complete! I ran on the promise of Responsible Leadership, Limited Government, and Idaho Values. The House, Senate, and Governor worked well together and accomplished many important pieces of legislation for Idahoans. Specifically, I worked on several priorities I heard on the doorsteps in LD 15 over the last 5 years. Here are key wins on issues that matter most:
Immigration reform and public safety, see HB 83
Housing affordability, see the article and video below
Making sure Boise stays safe and does not become Portland, see the article and video here
Inflation, see HB 40 Income Tax Relief, HB 304 Property Tax Relief, and HB 231 Grocery Tax Relief so you can keep more of your own money

Two Steps Forward in Making Housing More Affordable
Housing affordability remains a pressing issue for Idaho families, with skyrocketing home prices pushing homeownership increasingly out of reach. While some zoning laws serve important safety purposes, many regulations artificially inflate prices and limit housing supply, preventing working-class Idahoans from achieving the American Dream. Studies consistently show that higher homeownership rates lead to stronger communities, better educational outcomes, and lower crime rates—which is why housing policies must support accessibility, not obstruction.
This year, I sponsored two pieces of legislation that will make building more affordable in Idaho. HB 266 enhances Idaho’s building inspection process. This bill allows for virtual re-inspections of the building—think telehealth for building permits! This modernizes Idaho’s building inspection process by significantly improving efficiency and reducing delays in the inspection process. The bill also includes timelines and several other helps to make building more efficient so we can increase the housing supply more quickly in Idaho
Senate Bill 1164 is legislation that also steps in the right direction and will ease the housing shortage to make housing more affordable in Idaho. It creates a timeline expectation for the local building permit authorities to determine the completeness of an application. It also asks each building authority to make available all permit requirements to create transparency and clear expectations for those wishing to build in Idaho. This bill passed unanimously on both the House and Senate floors, with a 63-0 vote in the House and a 33-0 vote in the Senate. Solving the housing crisis is important to everyone!

You Are Invited to Help Protect Our Kids
If you have kids or grandkids or influence the youth, I highly recommend reading The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. A constituent recommended the book to me; I found it extremely insightful. It looks like many similar topics are being addressed at the free community event advertised below. See you there!
